Ingredients

  • 1 dry coconut (gola), grated or blended
  • 2 tbsp almond butter (homemade, see method)
  • 2 tbsp jaggery powder
  • 2 tbsp almonds, soaked and chopped
  • 2 tbsp dried rose petals

Method

  1. To make almond butter: heat a pot, add the almonds, and roast over a low flame while stirring continuously for 5 minutes. Blend the roasted almonds for 5-7 minutes. The powder will transform into a creamy, buttery substance; scrape down the sides as needed.
  2. Blend the grated or blended dry coconut for 5-7 minutes until it also becomes creamy and buttery.
  3. Add the blended coconut to a bowl along with the remaining ingredients. Mix well using your hands.
  4. Shape the batter into small ladoos, garnish with dried rose petals, and serve.

Tip: Soak 2 tbsp almonds for 6 hours. The batter keeps in a jar in the refrigerator for 2-3 days - shape them fresh to order.

Highlights: Good source of vitamin E, iron and manganese.
